SKA Saint Petersburg wrapped up their four game road trip this week with victories over Yugra and Barys Astana. In the 5-1 win at Yugra on Tuesday, SKA jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to goals by Roman Cervenka, Patrick Thoresen, Ilya Kovalchuk, and Viktor Tikhonov. A Yugra goal late in the second period was all they gave up, as Igor Makarov would add a fifth goal after that in an easy win. The Thursday game in Kazakhstan was a little tougher, as goals by Kovalchuk and Tikhonov in the first period sandwiched a Dustin Boyd goal for Barys. Dmitri Kalinin, Alexei Ponikarovsky, and Cervenka all added goals in the second period, ensuring that SKA would walk out with a win. Roman Savchenko would add a goal for Barys, but it was too little, too late, as SKA won 5-2. Alexander Salak was in net for both wins.
The home opener is Monday against expansion Medvescak, with games on Wednesday against Dinamo Minsk, Friday against Spartak, and Sunday against Donbass.
