Fresh Start in Miami

Since the debacle that was his time in Montreal, Scott Gomez has been nothing short of a punching bag for most casual fans, and if you're a Montreal Canadiens fan, that who shall remain nameless, alongside the likes of Pierre Gauthier and Mario Tremblay.  However, after being bought out and signing with San Jose prior to last season, he managed  two goals and 13 assists in a third-line role.  Now, he will head to the Florida Panthers on a one year, $900,000 deal to possibly fill a depth role with a team that is still needing its young players to develop.  It's good work if you can get it, and Gomez will be looked upon for leadership on a team that is banking on the likes of Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Jacob Markstrom to be major contributors in the coming years.
